Local Business Spotlight: Slim & Husky’s

In honor of Black History month, we are highlighting a local black-owned business each week of February.

Derrick Moore, Clint Gray & Emmanuel Reed of Slim & Husky’s.

It’s National Pizza Day today, so it was only fitting that this week’s spotlight serve both purposes - a black-owned pizza business, Slim & Husky’s! Founded in 2015 in none other than a garage by three friends and Tennessee State University grads, Slim & Husky’s was created to serve unique artisan pizzas and their North Nashville community. The concept? Using food (pizza) as a vehicle for social change. And it’s certainly had an impact! Slim & Husky’s has now grown to more than 10 locations.

So if you’re looking for a pizza place with incredibly tasty options and a vibrant scene, Slim & Husky’s is the place. Hip hop music and bright-colored murals and artwork are a constant in any of their locations. Their pizzas are crafted with locally-sourced ingredients. And the business continues to positively impact less touched areas of communities they serve through employment opportunities and accessible dining.
